When I scan a document as a Searchable PDF or a Editable Text (OCR) resulting file won't save.
The error message says "The HP Scan Application was unable to save the file to the specified location."
I have tried saving to various different locations with the same result.
I can save other formats including normal PDF and images.

Hi,
Right click the Start icon and select Programs and Features.
Locate the I.R.I.S OCR application and uninstall it.
Next download and run the latest drivers for your printer below:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJ871/OJ8710_Full_WebPack_1881.exe
Once the installation appears close the shown window.
Next right click the Start button and select Run.
type %temp% and press OK.
Open the latest HP installation folder which begins with 7z (e.g. 7zs1234)
Open the Optional folder.
Right click on IrisOCR.msi (Windows Installer File) and select Install.
Once done, open the HP Software and try scanning again, may you see any difference?

Shlomi

Thanks. Your instuctions were a bit confusing, but I was able to find the correct IrisOCR.msi file and get it installed.
All is now working properly.
BTW - I discovered that I had an old copy of the I.R.I.S OCR application from my old HP printer and uninstalled it as well.
