I HAVE AN OFFICEJET JET PRO 8130E SERIES.  MY PRINTER WORKS JUST FINE BUT I CAN NOT GET THE SCANNER PART TO WORK

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
 

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e prints normally but the scanner is not working, the printer is communicating with your computer for printing, but the scanning service or full HP software may not be installed or connected correctly.


Try these steps:

1. Reinstall the full HP driver and software:

Printing can work with a basic driver, but scanning requires the complete HP software package. Reinstalling it restores the scanning components.
 

2. Verify the network connection:

Make sure both your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If they are on different networks, the printer may print, but scanning may not work.
 

3. Scan to a USB drive (Alternative):

If you need to scan immediately, you can use the printer's Scan to USB feature with a USB flash drive, if supported.
 

Expected Outcome:

After reinstalling the full HP software and confirming the network connection, your computer should detect the scanner and scanning should work normally.
