The unit continues to indicate a paper feed jam status which does not exist. I have rebooted several times and the status persist. When I press "OK", the gears turn briefly and sound odd but the status never clears.
Any suggestions??

I had an HP Officejet Pro 8740 for a year that I liked very much.
I had one instance of "paper jam" and I chased bits of paper all over the printer. I did eventually remove the duplexer and found a tiny corner of the paper inside that area, too.
Be thorough.
That done, you may need to power set the printer to get it back "on keel".
