Hi @Mikemd115,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how confusing and frustrating it must be when your HP printer suddenly asks for a PIN to scan to email, says it sent one, but nothing arrives. You’re doing everything right, and yet the printer seems stuck in a loop. Let’s gently walk through how to fix this and get your scans flowing again.

Steps to Fix the PIN Issue

1. Check Your Email Security Settings

If you're using Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook:

  • Gmail: Enable access for less secure apps or create an App Password if two-step verification is on.
    👉 Gmail App Password Help
  • Yahoo: Enable third-party access or generate an app password.
    👉 Yahoo Secure Access Guide
  • Outlook/Hotmail: Use an app password if two-factor authentication is enabled.

2. Use HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) to Check Scan to Email Settings

  1. On your printer, go to Network Settings and find the IP address.
  2. Open a browser and type the IP address (e.g., http://192.168.1.5).
  3. Go to Scan > Email Setup > Outgoing Email Profiles.
  4. Check if the email address is correct and if the SMTP server settings are valid.
  5. If prompted for a PIN, try resetting the profile or creating a new one.

3. Try HP App’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
