Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I am looking for the pinout on the XPA C7671B transparency adapter for the Scanjet 7400C scanner.  As it seems to be unreliable as far as getting the backlight to turn on I figured I'd just hack together a way to power it directly rather than continuing to try to make it work through any HP or open-source software.

I had tried to make this work directly through MSWin10 (didn't turn on at all), by using GIMP 2.x under Linux (occasionally turns on, but can't adjust scan area), and even creating MSWin VMs under VirtualBox (MSWin 2000, XP, Vista).  In the VMs the HP Scanner software either doesn't turn the C7671B even thoough I've selected the Transparency option, or it won't see the scanner (even though the OS sees it) or it just immediately crashes the software.  So the only option at this point must be to manually power the adapter.

Before you ask, we can't use one of the current slide/negative scanners, as they only handle 35mm (and sometimes 126 format).   We have larger format negatives to scan (and even at that, I think even the C7671B isn't big enough for some glass-plate negatives, etc).
