Officejet 8610-e AOI
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Of late, the past 6 months, I have had to consistently run the Doctor to fix interfaces to my 8610 scanner in Windows 10.  Why I keep having to do so is one PIA I have not been able to resolve, but at least the Scan Doctor fixed it, until next power up after shutdown!!

HOWEVER, the new 5.2 version DOES NOT WORK anymore!  It launches and finds my LAN attached printer system, but upon clicking next I get a "Communicating with printer" dialog which hangs around a few seconds THEN reverts BACK to previous "Select Product" display.   So **bleep** frustrating that what used to work flawlessly for several years has recently been having all these issues  just trying to scan a dang document.

Anyone else run into v5.2 Scan Doctor NOT WORKING and found a solution to fix the **bleep** thing?

Hi,

Please try the following and let me know if that may help:

From Windows Explorer browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP and delete the Diagnostics folder.

Right-click the Start icon and select Run, Paste %appdata% into the Run dialog and press OK.

Delete the HPPSDr folder and close that window.

Now download the latest Print and Scan Doctor version and check if you may see any difference:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe

Please let me know if you may see any difference,

Shlomi

I actually uninstalled and re-installed the driver only as it was the one which v5.1 flagged to be the problem.  We'll see in a few days when I try to scan again, as it most likely will be down once again if recent track record holds, if v5.2 will work at all, even with the suggestion of wacking the diags directory.

I have an HP Envy 5640.  Scan Doctor 5.2 is worse than useless on resolving my problem -- it's a clean install after a Win10 reset so I would have thought it'd be easy.   Well guess again....

Everything looks ok but pages don't print.   Test-prints disappear from the print-queue -- apparently being sent to some bit-bucket somewhere other than my printer -- although I have managed to print an "Event Log Report" and a "Printer Status Report".   Whatever is wrong is apparently causing HP Scan Doctor 5.2 to malfunction: it soaks up all the cycles on one of my CPU's cores whenever I try to print a test page!   It's UI becomes completely unresponsive if I click on the button sayingthat my testpage didn't print.  Fortunately: Win10's Task Manager can kill HP's Scan Doctor so I'm not blue-screened, but what a waste of time...

After removing the Diagnostics and HPPSDr Folders and running https://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe and the Problem remains!

After a few seconds of communicating with  my Officejet Pro 8610 Printer (Networked), "HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.2" returns to the "Choose Your Product", NO Diagnosis having been performed!!!

Printer: Officejet 8610      Windows 8.1 and 10

This issue was not observed with "HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.1???

Upgrading to HP Print & Scan Doctor 5.2.1 resolved the issues I had with HP Print & Scan Doctor 5.2, without having to downgrade to HP Print & Scan Doctor 5.1!!!
