Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP print and scan Doctor does nothing. I have a HP Deskjet  3510   and the Dr. program can't even find it let alone fix the problem of not being able to scan. My old computer had no problem with this setup (wired to computer)  but I lost video card in old computer and had to replace  it. Now I can't scan, I could before, printing works just not scanning.

Hi @Larry83301,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've encountered some issues with your HP Deskjet 3510 scanner after replacing the video card in your computer. Let's troubleshoot this step by step.

  • Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable or through a wired or wireless network connection.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Try restarting both your computer and the printer.
  • HP Print and Scan Doctor: Since you've already tried this, let's move on to other troubleshooting steps.
  • Driver Update: It's possible that the driver for your printer/scanner needs to be updated to work properly with your new video card. Visit the HP website, search for your printer model, and download the latest drivers for it. Install the drivers and see if that resolves the issue.
  • Compatibility Mode: If the drivers are already updated, try running the HP Print and Scan Doctor in compatibility mode. Right-click on the program shortcut, select "Properties," go to the "Compatibility" tab, and choose an earlier version of Windows (if you're using Windows).
  • Firewall/Antivirus: Sometimes, security software can block the communication between the printer and the computer. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and see if that helps.
  • Check Device Manager: Open Device Manager on your computer and check if the printer/scanner is listed under "Imaging devices" or "Printers." If you see any exclamation marks or error messages, there may be a driver issue.
  • Scan from Printer Panel: Some printers allow you to initiate a scan directly from the printer's control panel. Check your printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the scanning issue with your HP Deskjet 3510.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
