Microsoft Windows 11

I have tried everything to get my document feeder to work properly. The printing works phenomenally but when I use the scan to document feeder feature, my printer automatically prints from the glass. I have tried to fix this issue by asking for help from the virtual assistant which did nothing, I researched the issue on google and have tried unplugging, uninstalling and reinstalling the application, updated all drivers, made sure the documents were laid correctly within the document feeder, checked the rotors, and much more. I've noticed this is a common issue amongst HP users and no solutions are available.

Hi @MarisolVillegas,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to deal with that issue despite trying so many troubleshooting steps. Since you've already done a lot of troubleshooting, here are a few more steps you could try.

  • Reset the Printer: Sometimes, a reset can resolve underlying software issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 1-2 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually find this in the printer's settings menu or on the HP website.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if you don't see a jam, there could be small bits of paper stuck in the feeder mechanism. Carefully inspect and remove any obstructions.
  • Inspect Feeder Rollers: Make sure the feeder rollers are clean and not worn out. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol.
  • Adjust Feeder Guides: Ensure that the guides inside the feeder are snug against the edges of the paper stack but not too tight.
  • Test with Different Paper: Sometimes, the type or condition of paper can affect feeder performance. Try using a different type or brand of paper to see if it makes a difference.
  • Factory Reset (if applicable): If none of the above steps work, consider performing a factory reset on your printer. This will revert all settings to their factory defaults, which might resolve any software-related issues.

If these steps still don't resolve the issue, it might indicate a hardware problem with the document feeder itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
