Printer cannot see computer when scanning.  Computer CAN print to printer

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

 

Check the connection between your computer and printer. For USB, ensure the cable is secure or try a different port or cable. For Wi-Fi, ensure both devices are on the same network.

 

Ensure "Scan to Computer" is enabled through the HP Smart app.

 

Update or reinstall printer drivers by removing the printer from Devices and Printers and downloading the latest drivers from HP Support website.

If you are using WiFi, reset the printer’s network settings and reconnect to your WiFi. Check this guide to restore network settings in your printer

 

Disable or uninstall any conflicting scanning software, like Windows Fax and Scan.

 

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP’s website to diagnose and fix issues.

Operating system was upgraded to Windows 10.  In the past when pressing scan on printer “my computer” would appear.  Now other appears.  When pressing “other” several devices appear with names starting with ihop.  The first ihop will scan to my computer.  I have not tested what the others are.

I recommend removing all the duplicate devices and keeping only the one that works. Alternatively, you can remove everything and do a fresh start to make sure everything’s set up correctly.
