HP OfficeJet 8015e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a NEW HP OfficeJet  8015e all in one printer.  It has scanned before,  but now it refuses to scan and claims it is not "installed".  Baloney.  I finally got tech help for other printer/software issues  and now it is refusing to scan. My computer claims it cannot find it. It prints from the computer fine.   I have had to install/uninstall/reinstall 3 times so far.  I HATE staring at the screen while it putzes around taking forever to do anything [installing the software for this].  I just got this printer in late February.  Getting tech help is very difficult.  It does say the default driver is "unavailable"????

FYI,  it says "contact the network adminstrator" and troubleshooting cannot fix the issue.  I AM the "network administrator".  For some idiot reason this computer has always thought I am two people and does not recognise me as the admin.

It seems you are experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet 8015e when trying to scan. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshooting this problem:

1. Check Connections

Ensure the printer is correctly connected to your computer:

  • Verify the USB cable or network connection.
  • If using a wireless connection, make sure the printer is connected to the correct network.

2. Restart Devices

Restart both your computer and printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait one minute, then turn it back on.
  • Restart your computer.

3. Update Drivers and Software

Ensure all drivers and software are up to date:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant to scan for updates.
  • Install any available updates for the printer software and drivers.

4. Check Printer Status

Make sure the printer is set as the default scanner and is not in an error state:

  • Open the Devices and Printers window.
  • Right-click the HP OfficeJet 8015e and set it as the default scanner.

5. Run Scan Doctor

Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix issues:

  • Download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website.
  • Run the tool and follow the instructions to troubleshoot scanning issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
