Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Have a PC (HP Spectre, Win 10, 64 bit), and PHotosmart C7280. My printer is not detected by HP Solutions center, which I need in order to scan. I've repeatedly downloaded the software but when I open it, t says it's not fully installed.  I checked and my driver is update to date.  But I can print wirelessly.  I just can't scan. So I looked at community solutions and downloaded HP Scan and Capture.  It won't detect my printer even if I manually enter the IP address.  So I tried Windows Scan and Fax and it won't detect my printer either. Just downloaded HP Support Assistant and it won't detect my printer either.  I'm at a loss.  Have uninstalled HP solutions center and drivers, restearted and installed again.  Same problem.   Please HELP!

Update: I tried for hours to fix the problem before doing that post.  Wouldn't you know it ... I was able to fix it for HP Solution Center and HP Print and Scan about 30 mins after posting.  But HP Support Assistant still won't detect my printer.  I even entered it manually and it won't accept it.  Really sucks.

Latest driver will not come with the solution center.

 

As you are able to print, I suggest you use HP Smart App.

Thaks Raj.  I tried it.  Downloaded HP Smart.  I didn't detect my printer at first but it worked when I added it by Hostname.  Unfortunately, it won't scan.  It says "HP Cannot scan from this printer. Either the printer does not have a scanner or HP Smart cannot use the scanner in this printer."  Very frustrating.  Even HR Support Assistant won't detect my printer and it wouldn't let me register it.

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

 

Remove the USB if connected

 

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features 

2.) Select your HP Printer 

3.) Select Uninstall 

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers 

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device' 

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo. 

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s") 

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab 

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom 

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Thanks again Raj.  Right before I got your reply, I found a suggestion online for the "printer being used" issue.  It was suggested t:  1) update Adobe Flash Player; 2) go to my Embedded Web URL and try to scan from there - if it worked, close all programs, shut down, disconnect power to the printer, sit 30 seconds, reconnect power to the printer and start up again.  It worked.  I can now scan though HP Solutions.  Yay.  However, HP support Assistant, HP Scan and Capture, and HP Smart still won't detect my printer (by scanning for it or when manually entered).  Since HP Solutions works for scanning, I'm not concerned about HP Smart or HP Scan and Capture.  But it's very weird that HP Support Assistant won't recognize my printer even though I checked and it is registered to my HP account. I would like to get that fixed but I suspect this may be the wrong forum?

 

I truly appreciate your help. THank you.  If you have suggestions about HP Support Assistant, that would be great.
