I'm using the HP Easy Scan software to scan documents.  I scan a muti-page document through the document feeder on top. The document is letter size, but I end up with a legal size scan.

I can't figure out how to fix the problem. Any suggestions?

Hi,

From the top of HP Easy Start windows click the Presets menu and select Edit Settings.

Set the scan Type as Document and then the Size as US Letter.

Press OK and now try scanning and check for any difference.

I don't have HP Easy Start. I assume you mean HP Easy Scan.

I tried your approach. (The box on that page is labeled Crop To, not Size.)

Problem solved. Thank you!

You're welcome, yes, did meant to say HP Easy Scan indeed.

Great to see it has now been resolved.

I have the same problem but I cannot find the settings menus or boxes that are referred to in the solutions below  --  Easy Start, Easy Scan, whatever.  How do I navigate to where this setting is.

Ok, I have downloaded, time and again, the latest version of Offetjet Pro 8600 Premium all-in-one software.  When I "crop" to letter size, it moves my document up and the top gets cut off.  All settings are set to letter, but when I get into the settings of the scan, it says "auto" and won't let me do anything else, so my letter-sized document gets scanned in legal.  I'M EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED!  Any suggestions?

Ok, I finally figured out how to "solve" my problem of Setting of letter size, but still scans in at legal size.  Appears to only work on auto feed (not from glass), but when (in my case) I'm scanning from Adobe Pro, I need to go to Custom Scan, Scan, and in the box then then comes up, the bottom area shows legal and simply set it to letter size and all scans properly.  Why default is letter and it scans in legal, is anyones' guess.  However, my trying different ways to scan had the letter size (default) greyed out so couldn't be changed.  Going to Custom Scan allowed me to change what shows up there as legal, to letter.  Good luck!
