Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Hello everyone,

Please excuse my late reply. Here's my problem again, this time translated into English: I tried to set up an HP Officejet 7720 on my new Mac with macOS 26.2 (Tahoe).

I installed the HP app (formerly HP Utility) and set up the OJ 7720 according to the instructions.

I can now print and scan from the Mac, but scanning from the OJ to the Mac doesn't work. The "Scan to Computer" function is no longer available.

According to HP's instructions, you're supposed to install the HP software and then activate the "Scan to Computer" function in the scanner settings.

However, this isn't possible with the new HP app. At least, I can't find the function.

As soon as I open the scan function in the HP app, the scanner starts scanning.

However, all the functions in the top menu bar (Save, Print, etc.) remain grayed out.

Unfortunately, the topics offered by HP's online support don't help here either.

Scanning from the OJ to the Mac worked without any problems under macOS Sequoia using the HP Utility program.

Has anyone else perhaps experienced the same problem and been able to solve it?

I would be grateful if someone could help me with this.

Best regards

Hi @SRA-7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing issues with the "Scan to Computer" function on your HP Officejet 7720 with macOS 26.2. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

Ensure Software is Installed Correctly:

  • Verify that you have the latest version of the HP software installed. You can download the necessary drivers and software from the HP Software and Driver Downloads.

Check Printer and Mac Connectivity:

  • Ensure that your printer and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network or properly connected via USB if applicable. This will ensure proper communication between the devices.

Enable "Scan to Computer":

  • Open the HP app on your Mac and check if the "Scan to Computer" option is enabled. This is usually found under the scanning settings. Sometimes, it may need to be configured initially via the HP software on your computer.

Printer and Mac Settings:

  • Go to Printers & Scanners on your Mac by clicking the Apple menu, then System Preferences. From there, check if the printer is listed and selected as the default.
  • If "Scan to Computer" was previously set up, try reconfiguring through the HP app by enabling the service again.

HP Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Access your printer’s Embedded Web Server via your browser by entering the printer's IP address in the address bar. This can be used to manage and configure various settings directly that can sometimes affect scanning functions.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and Mac after checking the configurations. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues by refreshing the connection.

AirPrint and MacOS Compatibility:

  • Ensure compatibility of macOS with AirPrint or basic drivers that allow direct printing and scanning without additional software. This can often simplify the connection and usability with standard macOS functionality.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hey Animatryx,

Thank you so much for your quick help.

I've now reset the printer to factory settings and then configured the settings on my Mac as you described.

- Printer and computer are on the same network/Wi-Fi network.

- Printer driver is up to date.

- App is up to date.

- Settings were configured via the browser window.

Unfortunately, this hasn't solved my problem. I can start scanning to my computer from the browser window on my Mac, but the printer still doesn't appear in the "Scan to Computer" menu!

I'll keep trying. Maybe the problem will resolve itself eventually. Thanks again so much, and all the best.

Best regards

Hi @SRA-7,

Thank you for your response.

Thank you for the update and for taking the time to try all those steps — I can imagine how frustrating this must feel, especially when everything should be working.

It’s good to hear that scanning from the browser works; that tells us the connection itself is there. I understand how confusing it is when the printer still doesn’t appear in the “Scan to Computer” menu.

Please don’t worry — you’re doing everything right. We’re happy to keep looking into this with you and help get it sorted.
