I’ve an HP4130e printer/scanner and when I scan a document the scan has a series of “copy’s” running diagonally across the scan. How can I fix?

If you're experiencing diagonal lines or streaks on your scanned documents with the HP Deskjet 4130e printer/scanner, it could be due to several factors. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

 

  • Clean the scanner glass: Use a lint-free cloth or microfiber cloth and some glass cleaner to clean the scanner glass. Make sure to remove any smudges, fingerprints, or dirt that might be affecting the scanning quality.
  • Check the scanner lid and ADF (Automatic Document Feeder): Ensure that there are no smudges, dirt, or debris on the scanner lid or the ADF if you're using it. Clean them if necessary.
  • Adjust the document placement: Make sure the document you're scanning is placed correctly on the scanner glass or in the ADF. Ensure that it is aligned properly and not skewed or slanted.
  • Check the scanning resolution settings: Lower scanning resolution settings can sometimes cause artifacts or lines in the scanned image. Try increasing the scanning resolution to see if it improves the quality.
  • Update printer/scanner drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers and software installed for your HP Deskjet 4130e printer/scanner. You can visit the official HP website and download the latest drivers for your specific model.
  • Disable image enhancements: Some scanning software may have options for image enhancements that could cause unintended artifacts. Check the scanning software settings and disable any image enhancement features to see if it resolves the issue.
