Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Envy Photo 7155

The scanner is not working. When I tell it to scan or preview, all I get is a page full of lines.  Sample below.  It happens no matter what I am scanning or black & white/color.  I am using the HP  app on my iPad and the controls on the printer. I have turned it off and unplugged it.  It prints from all devices just fine. The scanner is the only issue.

It’s less than a year old.  While it wasn’t the most expensive printer in the world, I really don’t want to replace it.  Any ideas?

Thanks.

@Seamshappy, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Try making a black or Color photocopy on the printer and check if that works.

Have you tried scanning from any other device, like a MAC and check the results?

Check the scanner bar functionality

Perform a visual test of the scanner mechanism to see if it is jammed.

  1. Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.
  2. Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.
    • If the scanner light does not move, the scanner mechanism is likely jammed.
    • If the scanner light moves but the Scan quality is still not acceptable, continue to the next section.

Most of the scan quality issues are caused by improper scanner calibration, fingerprints, smudges, dust or debris on the scanner glass. Resetting the printer will force the scanners to re-calibrate and cleaning the scanner and scanner lid will remove any smudges, fingerprint, dust, or debris.

1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector

2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door

3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

4) Clean the scanner, refer to step 2 from this document.

5) Plug the power cord back into the printer

6) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges.

Let me know how this goes.
