HP OFFICEJET PRO 7740

When Iscan from the printer feeder, it is pulling pages slightly crooked and is also not pulling correctly at time - splitting one page into two pages with the top of page on one sheet and bottom of page on next sheet.  I'm thinking maybe the roller bars (or something like that) may need to be replaced.  Need to know if I'm on the right track or if it's something else.

@dll_,

Welcome to HP Forums,

I see from your post that you are having issues while scanning from ADF. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

Are you able to make a copy from the ADF? What happens when you try to make a blank copy from ADF

If it does, what happens when you try to scan using the ADF? Do you get an error? Do the wheels just spin?

If it does not happen, then this looks like a possible hardware failure. Before you come to any conclusion, I would suggest you follow the steps suggested in the support document for  - HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Printers - 'Out of Paper' Displays, Printer Does Not Pick Up Paper to clean the rollers and hopefully get it to pick up the paper.

Alternatively, I would suggest here is to update the printer firmware - Now you can directly update the printer firmware from the printer control panel or you can download the printer firmware from our HP support website. For more details on how to update the printer firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Could you please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting for further assistance.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

if those steps worked for you.If they did, that’s awesome!

I have not made any changes to the printer.  What is happening when I try to scan from ADF is as I described in my original post.  Plus, sometimes the scan will get "stuck" and then I do get an error message.  I expect it is the rollers.  When I make a copy from the ADF, I have noticed that it cuts off some of the top of each page.  I tried the links you provided and get this message for both so cannot connect:

@dll_,

There seem to have an issue with the support website, being under maintenance due to which you were getting 502 bad gateway error.

We have got an update from our engineering team that it's been up and running, I would suggest you follow the rest of the troubleshooting and get back to us with the results for further assistance.

Eagerly waiting for your response!
