Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hi all! In the editorial office, in the advertising department, an HP “laserjet mfp m443nda” network MFP was installed, connected via a local network. This MFP serves 5 computers in the advertising department. In addition, 4 computers in the layout department can also use this MFP if necessary. Printing documents from all computers works perfectly, there are no problems with this. Problems arise only when scanning over the network from an MFP to any computer in the advertising or layout department. Specifically, problems can manifest themselves in various ways:
1) Scanning does not start at all, the device freezes for a short time, then returns to the main main menu.
2) Scanning occurs, but the scans end up on a computer with a different name in the same department, that is, in the wrong place.
3) Scanning does not start at all, the MFP writes “Unavailable” in relation to the computer to which the scan was to be sent.
4) After assigning static IP addresses to the computers of the advertising department with the names RECLAMA0-RECLAMA4, computers with the names VERSTKA1-VERSTKA6 were no longer visible on the MFP monitor, and previously they were all visible with DHCP addressing.
5) Sometimes, most often in the morning, when there are still few computers on the network, scanning works normally and all scans arrive exactly at the address. I cannot yet trace any system through which this confusion occurs.
Additionally, I inform you that when scanning from these computers to the MFP using the installed HP Scan program, scanning occurs normally.
Network topology:
1) The total number of computers on the network is about 40. There is no domain.
2) Router “Mikrotik RouterBOARD 2011UiAS-RM” with 2 switches “TPLink SG1048”
3) Initially there was one working group for everyone - ZVYAZDA. After a problem with scanning occurred, I created 2 additional working groups: RECLAMA and VERSTKA and moved computers from the advertising department and the layout department there.
4) Dynamic host addressing (DHCP) for all computers except the advertising department (a few days ago I set static addresses for them, but this did not give any positive result).

Hi @Alex_76,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a network configuration issue that's causing inconsistency in scanning from the HP LaserJet MFP to computers in the advertising and layout departments. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Network Connectivity: Ensure that all computers in the advertising and layout departments have stable network connectivity. Test pinging the MFP from these computers and vice versa to confirm that they can communicate with each other without any issues.

Verify IP Addresses: Double-check that the IP addresses assigned to the computers in the advertising department are correct and not conflicting with any other devices on the network. Also, ensure that the subnet masks are configured correctly for all devices on the network.

Review DHCP Settings: Since you've assigned static IP addresses to the computers in the advertising department, make sure that there are no conflicts between these static IP addresses and the IP addresses that the DHCP server assigns to other devices. Check the DHCP lease table on the router to ensure that there are no overlapping IP assignments.

Network Segmentation: It's good that you've created separate working groups for the advertising and layout departments. Ensure that the network segmentation is properly configured and that there are no firewall rules or network policies blocking communication between devices in these departments.

Update Firmware and Drivers: Ensure that the firmware of the HP LaserJet MFP is up to date. Similarly, make sure that the drivers on all computers in the advertising and layout departments are updated to the latest versions compatible with the MFP.

Monitor Network Traffic: Use network monitoring tools to analyze network traffic and identify any anomalies or bottlenecks that could be causing issues with scanning. Look for patterns in network activity that correlate with the scanning problems.

Consider Network Load: If scanning works more reliably when there are fewer computers on the network, it's possible that network congestion or high traffic volume during peak hours could be affecting scanning performance. Consider implementing Quality of Service (QoS) policies to prioritize scanning traffic.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
