When I press the Copy function on the printer's screen, I get the following error:

 

An internal communication failure has occurred in the scanner subsystem. Contact support.

Suggested Troubleshooting Steps

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check Scanner Lock:

  • Ensure that the scanner carriage is not locked for shipping. It should be in the unlocked position.

Inspect Cables and Connections:

  • Verify that all cables connecting the scanner subsystem are securely attached and not damaged.

Firmware Update:

  • Make sure that your printer firmware is up-to-date. You can check for updates on the HP Support website for the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw.

Perform a Reset:
