I'm getting an error message that says Reload original - The document feeder was not able to pick up the original. Load the original document feeder and try again.
I hear a gear or something malfunction, I've tried everything using google an chat and nothing has fixed the problem.

Hi @Drawn2Art,
- Turn off and unplug the printer. Open the ADF cover and clean the pick rollers and separation pad with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water.
- Remove any scraps of paper inside the ADF.
- Load 5–10 sheets, adjust the paper guides, and try again.
- If you hear grinding gears, the ADF may need repair: https://support.hp.com/contact-hp
Please share your printer model.

Hi @Drawn2Art, thanks for the model. A grinding noise from the document feeder usually means something is blocking the ADF gears or a gear is slipping.
- Turn off and unplug the printer, open the ADF cover and look for torn paper, staples or clips; remove anything you find.
- Plug it back in, turn it on and try scanning one page from the scanner glass. If the glass works, the problem is limited to the ADF.
- If the ADF still grinds with nothing inside, it's a mechanical fault in the feeder. Check warranty: https://support.hp.com/check-warranty and contact HP for service options: https://support.hp.com/contact-hp
Meanwhile you can keep scanning from the glass.
