I have to scan a ton of documents into my computer, and all the documents come out with the date surrounding the file name like this 20240910FileName20240910. It is extremely time consuming to go in and rename each one to just FileName. Is there anyway to disable this feature? I am scanning directly from the printer. I don't have access to any software or applications that initiate scanning from the computer.

Sorry if there is some info missing that may be needed I don't know enough about this to know what information should all be included. TIA!

My guess is that whoever configured your scan to folder included either prefix or suffix to differentiate files or did nothing and Windows is adding data for each file. If there is not a way difference in the file names, each scan would just be saved over the last one. If you are naming each file then that should not be a problem. To check the printer settings, you will need to be able to access the Embedded Web Server to change the settings for the defaults or the quickset you are using. In screen shot below you see there are possible prefix and suffix options for file names.

Ah that is unfortunate! It's both beyond my expertise and outside of the authorizations I have at work. Even the IT guy didn't know what to do about it. I was really hoping to be able to name each file straight from the printer to make the process faster, but it seems I'm SOL if this is the only way to get around it.

Thank you for your reply!

I still remain hopeful someone has a viable solution, but I only have limited options since my work has restricted a lot of functions on the work computers.
