Hi @25561,

If your HP OfficeJet 7740 will not scan to your PC, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Verify Connections

  1. Check USB or Network Connection:
    • If you are using a USB connection, ensure that the cable is securely connected to both the printer and your PC.
    • For network connections, make sure your printer and PC are on the same network and the network connection is stable.

Software and Driver

  1. HP Smart App:

    • Ensure that the HP Smart app is installed on your computer. The app can guide you through the scanning process.
    • Ensure that the app is updated to the latest version.
  2. Driver Update:

    • Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for the HP OfficeJet 7740. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Printer and PC Settings

  1. Set Default Printer:

    • Ensure that your HP OfficeJet 7740 is set as the default printer/scanner on your computer.
  2. Firewall and Antivirus:

    • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software to see if they are blocking the scanning function.

Restart Devices

  1. Power Cycle:
    • Turn off your printer and computer, unplug them for a few minutes, and then turn them back on.

HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Network Configuration

  1. Check IP Address:
    • Ensure your printer has a valid IP address if using a network connection. You can find this on the printer’s control panel or status report.

Windows Scanning Features

  1. Windows Scan:
    • Use the Windows Scan app to check if the issue persists. This can help determine if it’s a software issue or a Windows-specific problem.

Test Scan to Other Devices

  1. Try Another PC:
    • Attempt to scan to another PC, if available, to determine if the issue is with the printer or the initial computer configuration.
