The basic -- and not so basic -- scan instructions are available in your printer's Website support.

It appears (from a quick look at the User Guide) that although "copy" is available on the printer panel, scan must be initiated from software used on your device (computer) that controls the scan function.  You should, of course, double check this information - read the User Guide and other instruction documents for your printer.

Exact instructions vary by Operating System on the device you are using to submit the scan job to the printer.  For example, if you are using Windows, the instructions are different from those used with MacOS or the HP Smart Application.
