No scan button on Deskjet 3630 its all done through your computer. Not like the good old 3055A i've just dumped.

It took me an hour to realise this, but now I have found my way around it, it seems quite simple ( I am 70 years+ ) so a bit behind the younger digital age.

Go to devices on your copmputer , and make sure its in that folder.

Click on that and all will be revealed. Options to print or scan, and where to file /send it.

Persevere , it's damned frustrating as HP mention nothing of this detail in their sales blurb, then rely on chat rooms to  answer their queries as they dont operate outside offic hours to answer questions when most of us are working at home.

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I read you are frustrated that you don’t have scan button on your HP Desk Jet 3630 All-in-One printer.

Please follow the below steps to scan the documents from your computer.

  • Load the item on the scanner glass, in the document feeder slot
  • Search Windows for your printer model, then click the printer name in the list of results.
  • HP Printer Assistant opens.
  • Click Scan a Document or Photo.
  • HP Scan opens.
  • Click Scan.
  • Click Save.
  • The Save as windows opens.
  • Select the folder you want to save the scan to, change the File name if necessary, confirm the file type in the Save as type menu, then click Save.

click here to find a document which will help you in scanning better.

Let me know if those steps worked for you.  If they did, that’s awesome!  Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons, that’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.

Yes thanks for that , but, as stated  I worked it out myself before your response.

It's a pity that HP don't give this instruction in writing in the box in which the unit is delivered  to save all this anxt and frustration.

In any case why not have a scan option on the 3630 ?

@Tringthing
Thank you for replying,

I understand you want a scan button, however,
This is how HP Desk Jet 3630 All-in-One printer is been designed.

Let me know, if you need any further assistance,

Thanks for this. I also wasted an hour looking for the scan button on my new Desk jet3636. I have just started working from home, in the past i had people in the office to do all my scanning for me so I have a lot to learn. The information that comes in the box is just not adequate and a lot of time is wasted trying to figure out and go online to operate the thing. I wish i had come straight to the community first. I am not impressed with support from HP
