We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I have an HP Envy 6120e print scanner, and using HP Smart Scan App. I need specific scan settings (600dpi, no compression, save as .jpg etc. but cannot find a location in the HP Smart app to save these settings, they always default to 300dpi, medium compression, .pdf format save etc. Can anyone help me find the settings save path.

The answer is:  No, there is not a current way to force HP Smart / HP App to recognize and save defaults of the types you are interesting in saving.

 

HP Smart / HP App Shortcuts can save a very limited (emphasis on very) faults at the expense of flexibility in most other settings.

 

That is the simple answer.

 

Additional Information / Options / Features

 

Note -- With the possible exception of the compression setting, there might be a reasonable solution that can get you close to where you want to be.

 

For example,

-- Windows --

  • Install the full driver printer software --  HP Scan understands the concept of creating and using  Custom Shortcuts.
  • Optionally install the HP Universal Scan Software as a stand alone software or after you install the full driver printer software.  -- NOTE --  In those cases where the full driver printer software includes the new format HP Scan software, HP Scan and  HP Universal Scan Software are nearly identical -- the system will tolerate installing both and some people just like to "have it all".  Choice.

-- After the software is installed --

  • Open HP Scan / HP Universal Scan Software > Create a Custom Shortcut 

-- When read to scan --

  • Open the HP Scan / HP Universal Scan Software > Select your Custom Shortcut > make any changes the Custom Shortcut simply could not save > Scan

 

General Example - HP Universal Scan - Main Menu - More > Document / Destination

Reinstall the full driver printer software

Details / How-to / Examples 

 

Check / Apply Windows Updates 

 

  • Check / Install any pending Windows Updates 
  • If any updates are applied in Windows Updates, Restart your computer and log in

Next,

Uninstall existing printer software

  • Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
  • If your printer software includes a separate "help" in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
  • Restart the computer and log in.

Install full driver printer software

  • If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

 

Web Pack Installation - Open Web Page - Full Driver Printer Software

HP Envy 6100 Series EasyStart Printer Setup Software - Offline Use Only

 

  • Open the Web Page
  • Download, Save, and Install the software.
  • If using a USB cable to connect the printer to your computer, connect the cable when instructed to do so, near the end of the software installation process.
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

When the software is installed, HP Universal Scan Software adds a self-named HP Scan software shortcut to the Desktop.

 

-- Notes --

  • Where supported, HPUSS can be installed as standalone or installed after the full feature / full solution printer software. 
  • If you install the full driver, it is not usually necessary to also install the HP Universal Scan Software -- That said, the Windows File System generally tolerates both software packages installed at the same time on the system system.

 

 

Open website  HP Universal Scan Full Feature Software 

If needful, choose a different OS > Open all

 

Find / Download / Save / Install HP Universal Scan – Full Feature Software and Driver Webpack 

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.
