Message during scan, 'Scan Cancelled.  Scanning was cancelled from scanner.  Removed and reinstalled software and drivers.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

 

I see that you are facing an issue with scanning on your Printer.

Are you able to make a copy on the printer standalone? (Place an original document on the scanner glass and make a copy to confirm hardware is working fine)

 

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

 

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

 

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Had already done all these steps and the cancel at scanner message continues.  Repeating the same thing, expecting a different result is not a solution.  We can hear the scanner working and see the light under the cover indicating the scanner function works, however, the unit then cancels the scan before we can save the document.  Sometimes it will let me preview the scan, more evidence the scanner function works, but the message comes up 'scan is cancelled at the scanner'. 

 

This looks like a problem with the scanner's soft wear written to brick the unit for a reason known by HP.  The message to cancel at scanner is coded into the scanner's software.  What is the purpose to cancel a scan at the scanner?  Knowing that is a better plan to solving the problem verses repeating a software reinstall every time we want to use the scanner just to have the problem repeat.

A) Uninstall the printer software by following the steps from this link and restart the devices.

 

B)  Install the printer software by clicking on the link again and let me know if that resolves the issue.

 

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

 

C) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

I'm having exactly the same issue with my Laser Jet Tank MFP2604sdw.
Is there a resolution? I cannot scan anything from the document feeder using PC or smartphone, that tells me the problem is with the printer, not the client software.
