Officejet 6500 Wireless
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

During the upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 I received a message that the printer drivers may not have installed correctly.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HP full feature software for my Officejet 6500 Wireless several times.  No apparent issues until I attempt to scan a document.  I get the following error message, "The scan cannot be performed because another program or computer is using the networked imaging device.  Try again later."  Error information 8,((0, 18, -2147467259))  Thinking Windows FAX and Scan might be the other program I disabled it; no change.  HP Print and Scan Doctor gives me the same message, "The scan cannot be performed because another program or computer is using the networked imaging device.  Try again later."

All features worked before the upgrade from Windows 7 to 10.  There is no other computer using the device.  The printer will scan using Windows FAX and Scan but the HP scan features are much better for my purposes.

Hi there,

Did you download the latest software (here)?

I would recommend downloading this and running it as the installer will scrub the old software and then reinstall.

The software I downloaded was from HP's site.  Tried your link and downloaded the software again.  No change.  I got the same message when I tried to scan.

Hi, I have the exact same problem with my Officejet 6500 e709q model and the same numbers came up for me too, it is very frustrating as I use the Scan alot. I also did a complete uninstall and redownloaded the software and drivers from the HP site.

I too would love to know the solution to this problem.

Was working perfectly before the upgrade to windows 10.

I have the OfficeJet 6500 E709n and have the same issue.  I have loaded the software as the link in the above message.  I think it was just released.

My next steps to try are running HP software as administrator if that does not work, I am going to try to run it with compatibility mode.  I read somewhere that it could be a problem with the 32 bit Twain drivers interfering with the 64 bit drivers.

I've done the administrator install and even turned off my antivirus and it still didn't work and now the scan button doesn't even show up in Solution Centre, until this is fixed I have to use the Windows fax and scan

Tried the solution listed in the thread started by Fran7273, SFC/scannow, and it did not work for me.

I have given up on the HP Solution Center to scan my documents.  I have tried uninstalling and re-installing.  Funny thing is if you go to www.hp.com and go to support and look for your printer and running win 7, you will not see the win 10 drivers.  I was doing resarch on my laptop and I could not find the latest drivers.  When I went and did the search on win 10, it would the drivers to release on Aug 3rd 2015 OfficeJet 6500.

You have two options:

1) use the win 10 application call "Windows Fax and Scan"

2) go to the win store and search for "HP scan and capture"

Issues with #1, There is no way to save the file in PDF, but it is a pretty nice program.

Issue wint #2, you just don't have all the options that you have with HP Solution Center

My hope is that since they just updated the driver that maybe they are working on this issue as well.

Yeah the PDF is a great function isn't it.

I just had a look at my downloads to see if the old version for 6500 wireless series was still there and it was so I tried to get that to work but it just keeps going round and round on the checking system so that was a no go.

It's a right pain in the butt not having the scan fuction

Just upgraded to Win 10 today and same error message trying to scan with 8500 A909g wireless.  Hope for a fix soon...
