Scan Function Not Working on HP Officejet J4580
02-08-2021 12:10 PM

I use the printer with my iMac which has macOS Big Sur version 11.2 operating system installed. The print and copy functions work normally, but not scan. The scan function has worked with my iMac in the past, albeit with a different operating system.

Hi @injector,
I'd like to help!
HP Officejet J4580 All-in-One Printer driver for macOS 11.2 is not available from the HP website or Apple Software Update. However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.
NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

That's unfortunate.
I’d recommend you look for replacement options, you may reach the phone support for assistance on this.
Follow the instructions below to reach them:
1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.
6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Have a great day!

Yes, my printer is out of warranty and, as a result, as you say, the options you gave me via a link don't take me to a phone number for support. In that event, you suggested I contact you via a private msg. To do that you say to click on a blue envelope next to my profile name. Where would I find my profile name? The only name I see is my nickname, "injector", and there's no blue envelope next to it.
