Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an ENVY Photo 7155 already connected to my computer.  But I need the scan icon on my home page. How do I get it there?  I've read several things and they end up confusing me!!

Hi @Patjb

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Here's a simple guide for getting the Scan icon on your home screen:

Option 1: Using HP Smart App (recommended method)

If you’re using the HP Smart app, which is the easiest way to manage your HP printer and scanner, follow these steps:

Open the HP Smart App:

  • If you don't have it yet, download it from the Microsoft Store: HP Smart.

Add Your Printer:

  • Once opened, make sure your HP ENVY Photo 7155 is added to the app. If not, click on Add Printer and follow the prompts to connect.

Pin the Scan Icon to Start:

  • Inside the HP Smart app, click on Scan (it’s one of the options on the main screen of the app).
  • Then, right-click on Scan or the Scan icon inside the app and select Pin to Start.
  • This will create a shortcut to the Scan feature right on your Start Menu.

Pin to Taskbar (Optional):

  • If you want to pin the HP Smart app (with the Scan feature) to your Taskbar, right-click on the app's icon in the Start Menu and select Pin to Taskbar.

Now, the Scan icon should appear on your Start Menu or Taskbar, making it easy to access for scanning whenever you need.

Option 2: Using Windows Fax and Scan (built-in option)

If you prefer to use the built-in Windows Fax and Scan utility (instead of the HP Smart app), you can create a shortcut for scanning using the following steps:

Open Windows Fax and Scan:

  • Press Windows + S and type Windows Fax and Scan in the search bar.
  • Click on Windows Fax and Scan when it appears.

Scan with Fax and Scan:

  • Once the app is open, click on New Scan in the top left.
  • This will let you use your HP ENVY Photo 7155 to scan your documents.

Pin the Scan Function to Start:

  • You cannot directly pin the New Scan function, but you can pin Windows Fax and Scan to your Start Menu for easier access.
  • Right-click on Windows Fax and Scan in the Start Menu or from the search results and select Pin to Start.

Option 3: Create a Scan Shortcut Manually (Using HP Printer Software)

If you're using the HP Printer Software installed on your computer, you can add a direct shortcut for scanning as follows:

Open HP Printer Software:

  • Go to the Start Menu, type HP ENVY Photo 7155 in the search box, and open the HP Printer Software (it might also show up as HP Smart).

Find the Scan Shortcut:

  • Inside the printer software, look for a Scan option or shortcut.
  • Pin to Start:
  • Right-click on the Scan option inside the software and choose Pin to Start to make it easier to access.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
