I've set up my new Lenovo Windows 11 to print via wifi  but it will not SCAN remotely viathe "Scan and Capture" app because it does not detect my device...even if I enter the IP address as an option. Scan and Capture worked fine with my previous laptop in Windows 10?

@Figulus

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you tried the HP Smart App?

If not then install HP smart app to scan remotely: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

Update the printer firmware if possible:

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your PC.
  • Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Yes, I had tried to do all this but HP smart doesn't detect my printer. It detects an HP 4500 but this version is not linked to my WiFi...

No progress with your solution I'm afraid.... why won't scan and capture detect my device? I can print via the WiFi from my laptop.

Thank you for posting back.

Let's try this:

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP DeskJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

To reinstall, click here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
