I just started having this issue as well with my HP Envy Photo 7858 All-In-One printer. This printer was purchased new about 9 months ago. At the same time the panel lights have changed so that the wrong ones are lit while on the home screen. The firmware is up-to-date (checked), the printer was reset by unplugging from the back of the printer, power is directly to a wall outlet (no surge protector). This all started a day ago when I suspect the firmware automatically updated.
Are there any solutions/fixes for this issue? When will a fix be available? How do I obtain/install it? How will I be notified of the fix?

What exact steps are taken to scan? what exact feature is used? (e.g Scan > Scan to Email, Scan to Computer, etc.)
May you see any difference when scanning using HP Smart from your computer or mobile device?
