Product: HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 5275 All-in-One Printer

My HP5275 scan driver stopped working, it doesn't recognize the printer (it says "Unable to communicate with the scanner") although the printer is correctly connected (I can scan from the printer but not from the desktop). It was a wonderful driver, with many scanning options, and I want to restore it. Please help.

I would like to add more info:

I tried all the help suggestions on HP help sites, but the HP Scan is still not working. The error message is "Unable to communicate with the scanner". I tried HP Print & Scan Doctor, to no avail.

I tried to stop/restart the WIA service, to no avail.

I installed HP Scan Extended, it doesn't work as well, with similar error message: "Scanner communication cannot be established". 

However, HP Scan & Capture utility DOES work! (but it's significantly worse than the good old HP Scan that stopped working).

Which means that something's wrong with my HP Scan driver, or maybe some service that the driver is using.

Any idea how to solve the problem will be appreciated,
