Ive had no problems with scanning or printing from my new iMAC until yesterday when I startyed getting 9923 error code when I try to open the scanner. Printing not affected. Scanner works fine with my Mac Book. Did the recommneded tips (re-booting both systems, deleting the printer and re-installing) but no joy. Suggestions?

I too find I frequently can't scan and find a screen message for error code 9923. Sometimes I can scan if I turn off the printer and restart it. Sometimes I have to actually disconnect its power supply. This is time consuming and a nuisance.
I use an Apple Macbook Pro, running operating system OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6. My HP device is an All-in-one Officejet 4630. I connect to it via wifi.
I can see from the above and from other searches that there is an HP failure to update the driver to suit Apple operating systems. It makes no difference whether I use the latest HP software or the built-in Apple generic software. I can see that the issue is one of connection.
The device always prints but scanning is intermittent.
This is my third HP device. All gave trouble of one sort or another. It is the second device to give HP software problems.
Must I change brands to get a reliable service?
