Scan from HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 to iMac and error message no language available

When I Scan from HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 to iMac as I have many times in the past, I now get an error message "no language available" and won't download the scan onto the computer.  Checked language preferences - English - on the HP printer and iMac and reset to that.
