Hi @panthers3234,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To set up your HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 to scan directly from the printer to your computer, you need to ensure that the printer and computer are connected properly, and then configure the scan settings. Here’s how to do it.
Ensure Printer and Computer are Connected
- Network Connection: Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
- Install HP Software: If you haven’t already, download and install the latest version of the HP Smart app on your computer. This can be found on the HP website.
Set Up Scan to Computer
- Open HP Smart: Launch the HP Smart app on your computer.
- Select Your Printer: Click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 from the list of available printers.
- Configure Scanning:
- Click on the "Printer Settings" option.
- Find and enable the "Scan to Computer" feature. This may also be listed under "Manage" or "Scan Settings".
Scanning from the Printer
- Start a Scan: Now, go to your printer.
- Select the Scan Function: On the printer’s control panel, press the Scan button.
- Choose Destination: Select "To Computer" or similar options that might appear. This should give you options to choose the computer.
- Initiate the Scan: Press the OK button or equivalent to start the scanning process.
Save the Scanned Document
After the scan is complete, you may be prompted to choose where to save the scanned document on your computer, or it may automatically save to a default location (often in your Documents or Pictures folder).
Note:
- If you cannot find the option to enable Scan to Computer, ensure your printer firmware is updated. You can update the firmware from the HP Smart app or the HP website.
- If you are still having trouble, check your firewall settings to make sure they are not blocking communication between the printer and your computer.
Once you have set this up, you should be able to scan directly from the printer to your computer without needing to go to the computer each time.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
