Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The only way I've found to scan as a pdf is from the touch panel on my 8620. When i select Scan, then Computers, I see my laptop listed (if it's awake). I can pick it and select scan as pdf. However, that is not the case with my desktop computer. It doesn't see it at all. Therefore, to scan as a pdf, which many offices want, I have to break out my laptop. I've tried the print doctor, and it just opens the scan function on my desktop, which does not provide the capability to scan as a pdf. So what's the difference here, where every other computer on my wireless network is seen on the scan function, but my desktop is not? The printer is set up wirelessly to the other computers, wired to my modem, and the desktop is wired to the modem. Printing from the desktop works fine; scanning from the desktop works, too. It's just that the only option for pdf is through the scan on the touch panel.

Welcome to HP support community.

Enable scan to computer on your desktop

  1. Open the HP Printer Assistant. Windows 10: From the Start menu, click All Apps, click HP, and then select the printer name. ...
  2. Go to the Scan section.
  3. Select Manage Scan to Computer.
  4. Click Enable.

I hope that helps.

From the Start Menu, I open the HP section, click on the printer name, and it leads me to a window to add a printer or add software (which is not active). I don't see anything there about a Scan section.

This might require remote access of your computer to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.
