Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Ever since I upgraded my macbookpro first to Sequoia and now to OS Tahoe, the printer scan function no longer works. I have shut down and restarted everything and reconnected WiFi, but scan still does not work.

My printer is  a HP Envy 7640 all in one series DOES NOT SHOW UP ON ANY LIST. HP support is not recognizing the serial # when entered.  I need to fix the scan function.  All print and copy functions are fine.

@SAR37, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with the scanning functionality of your HP Envy 7640 after upgrading your macOS. Here are a few steps to help resolve this issue:

Verify HP Software Installation: Ensure that you have the latest HP driver and software installed on your Mac. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Software and Driver Downloads page by entering your printer model.

Use HP App: Download and install the HP app from the Mac App Store. This application can help manage scanning tasks.

Check Connection: Make sure your printer is properly connected to your network. Check if both the printer and your Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Remove and Re-add Printer:

  • Go to 'System Preferences' > 'Printers & Scanners'.
  • Select your HP Envy 7640 and click the minus sign (-) to remove the printer.
  • Reboot your Mac, then return to 'Printers & Scanners' and click the plus sign (+) to add your printer again.

Use Apple Image Capture:

  • Open 'Image Capture' from your Applications folder.
  • Check if your printer appears in the list on the left. If it does, try scanning from there.

Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. An outdated firmware can sometimes cause compatibility issues.

HP Easy Start: If you continue to have issues, download and run HP Easy Start from the HP support website. This tool helps ensure your printer uses the latest software and drivers.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
