Scan into network folder from HP Color Laser Jet MFP 178n

Hi,

I am trying to scan into network folder from HP Color Laser Jet MFP 178nw. I have a Synology NAS which has a shared folder. All scans which I start from the printer should land there. I tried scan to WSD, but currently the scan is going into the Windows Scan and Fax program. I tried to enter the NAS network folder adress under use network folder, but windows does not accept the NAS network folder adress. When I use the same address in WIndows Explorer it works.

Is there another way to scan to a network folder on a NAS? I did not find any settings in HP MFP Scan and HP Smart. With these programs I can save a scanned document into the NAS network folder address. I want to be able to scan into the folder by pressing the scan button on the HP Color Laser device.

According to the documentation I've found,

Your printer does not support Scan to Network from from the printer.

Said another way:

The printer does not support SMTP / Digital Scan to Network Folder

Download, Save, Install > Restart the computer and log in.

-- NAS Notes --

• Map the NAS folder to your Windows machine - Follow the prompts to retain the mapped location and the login credentials after Windows is restarted / rebooted
• Set the SMB settings in both Windows and on the Printer.
• Remember → An older NAS might be dependent on SMB1
• Set the destination folder on the NAS as Shared and include read / write permissions open to all.
• It might be useful / needful to to add the folder (on the NAS) to Group "Everyone".
• Permissions for the NAS folder can be checked in Windows but not edited in Windows.
