Hi @bmc111,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with your HP Officejet Pro 6968 scanner, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Check Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer, either through USB or over the network. If it's a wireless connection, make sure the Wi-Fi signal is stable.
  • Update Drivers: You mentioned that you've tried updating drivers, but double-check that you have the latest drivers installed. You can visit the official HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Check for Software Conflicts: Sometimes, other software on your computer may interfere with the scanning process. Make sure that there are no conflicting applications running in the background.
  • Reset Printer Settings: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Setup or Settings menu and look for an option to reset the printer settings to default. This might help if there's a configuration issue.
  • Reinstall the Software: Uninstall the printer software on your computer and then reinstall it. This can help to fix any corrupted files or settings.
  • Check for Updates: Ensure that both your operating system and the scanning software are up to date. Sometimes, an outdated software version can cause compatibility issues.
  • Run Windows Troubleshooter: If you're using Windows, run the built-in troubleshooter for printers. Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot" > "Additional troubleshooters" and select the printer troubleshooter.
  • Check for Error Messages: If there's a specific error message displayed on the printer or computer screen, take note of it. It could provide valuable information for troubleshooting.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
