HP ScanProLJ M148
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The scan menu that pops up is too small to read.  Bad GUI.  Fix this and stop telling people to adjust their resolution to fix this one program's defect.  My resolution is just fine, thanks.  Fix the program.

My menu is so small it's unreadable on a 4K screen.  This is just terrible GUI software.  HP again asleep at the wheel.  So many other installation problems and inconsistencies not to mention bad links that go nowhere.  Management MUST be either under-staffed, under-qualified, or just can't under-stand why these types of problems are unacceptable and push customers away.  Could not care if the printer hardware is excellent, if it's too difficult to use for daily business, then its getting returned!!!

I am very fortunate to have met and hired a brand new IT guy just before the world fell apart, and when the printer/scanner arrived the other day, he was able to, working remotely, upload the latest drivers and get everything to work.  The instruction manuals are ridiculously incomprehensible gobbledy **bleep**.  The hardware is good, but dumb.  No reason in this day and age that the hardware should not install itself once you plug it in.  My business partner ordered one at my suggestion and is sitting and waiting for help from his IT guy - we are both a bit tech savvy having run equipment from the IBM Selectric days (with carbon paper, no less), to dual 5 1/4 floppy disk drive PCs, 64K hard drives, heat sensitive fax scrolls and so on.  We are not bashful about tech, but the waste of time in dealing with this clueless HP printer/scanner is frustrating - lost time is lost money.  I once bought a Brother printer for my office.  it worked out of the box and I've had almost no problems and the ones that did crop up were easily and intuitively fixable.  No screwed up GUIs, no impossible and worthless instructions.  HP should be ashamed of itself.

Wayne, by the way, thanks for your comment.  I agree it is worthy of return.  Had I not had help from my tech guy right away when I realized that following their instructions would be a total waste of time, I might have done the same as you.  That would have really been terribly aggravating.  These days, we all have other things to contend with.

Also, HP bleeped "gobbledygook," which is far less offensive than the problems encountered with their product.

I looked at a Brother MFP option as well but was out of stock everywhere.  Thought that this HP 148 unit would be great based upon the reviews.  And usually I look at the issues of installation as user-error.  Not in this case... HP consumer products need a deep dark look at their quality if this is how they continue do business.
