We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

macOS 10.15 Catalina

The spec of the scanner states an scanning resolution up to 4800 x 4800 dpi.

I use image capture to scan. Here I can select 100, 200 or 300 dpi. NOT more.

How can I change this to an higher dpi?

To provide you with an accurate solution, I would like to know the following-

 

Have you tries scanning using the HP Easy Scan or the HP Smart App?

 

Image capture can only scan upto max 300 dpi and not more. The printer hardware and the software can support the max dpi for scanning. Refer to document  Product Specifications for the HP Color Laser MFP 179fwg (6HU09A) for details.

Hi,

thanks for your suggestion.

 

HP Easy Scan doesn’t work on MacOS 10.15

HP Smart shows the described problem with max. 300dpi.

So, this doesn’t solve the problem.

And yes, I agree, the scanner hardware has a specification with a higher resolution. I guess that‘s the reason, why I want to have this problem fixed 🙂

I understand your concern. The only foreseeable solution for this is to scan using the HP Easy Scan Application which comes with the HP full0-featured software. Since it is not compatible with Mac OS 10.15 Catalina, we may have to wait until the issue is resolved.

 

I shall put this across to the support team for a quick resolution on the issue.

Hi @Peter163, We're actively working to restore the complete functionality of the HP Easy Scan application. An updated version should be released soon.
