Hi,

I did find the same issue here with no solution. Also seen the same issue on youtube.

The issue is that when I use the printers display, select shortcut, scanner to email or Google Drive the it always defaults to "Letter" and "1-sided" for every scan job. It doesn't remember my setting and I can't find any where to set this parameter permanently.

Hi @Johan7979,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9120 Series printer to remember the scan settings for shortcuts is a known inconvenience, but you can try the following solutions to address the issue:

Solution 1: Adjust the Shortcut Settings in HP Smart HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  2. Navigate to "Shortcuts".
  3. Edit the specific shortcut (e.g., "Scan to Email" or "Scan to Google Drive").
  4. Look for options to set default preferences, such as page size (Letter, A4, etc.) and scanning mode (1-sided/2-sided).
  5. Save the updated preferences.

Solution 2: Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS)   Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
    • Open a browser on a device connected to the same network as your printer.
    • Enter the printer's IP address (found on the printer's display under network settings) into the browser's address bar.
  2. Navigate to the Scan or Shortcut Settings section.
  3. Update and save the default scan preferences, such as paper size and sides.
  4. Apply the changes.

Solution 3: Create Custom Shortcuts

  1. On the printer's display, create a new Custom Shortcut.
  2. Set the desired parameters, such as A4 for the page size and 2-sided scanning.
  3. Save the shortcut and try using it for your scans.

Solution 4: Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  1. Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer.
  2. Use the HP Smart app or visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page to download and install the latest firmware.

Solution 5: Factory Reset and Reconfigure

If none of the above works:

  1. Reset the printer to factory defaults (you can find this option in the printer's settings menu).
  2. Reconfigure the printer, then try setting up the scan shortcuts again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
