Hello,
I have a HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2545 printer. Printing works and other stuff like ink quantity is shown. But scanning doesn't work. When I try to scan, I can't hear any movement from the printer and it throws error. I have attached a picture.
I removed printer from devices, uninstalled all drivers and re-installed. The error still persists, but printing works. HP Print and Scan Doctor's progress bar goes till end and is stuck for hours. Please help me resolve the issue.

Hi @Tantri
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having a frustrating experience with your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2545. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot the "communication cannot be established" error during scanning:
Check Connections: Make sure the USB cable (if applicable) is securely connected to both the printer and the computer. If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
Restart Devices: Power off your printer and computer. Wait a minute, then turn them back on. This can often reset any communication issues.
Update Drivers: Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause communication issues.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor: Since you mentioned it gets stuck, try running it again. Make sure to close any other applications that might interfere.
Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Check if your firewall or antivirus software is blocking the scanning feature. You may need to create exceptions for the HP software.
Try Different Scanning Methods: Use the HP Smart app (if installed) or Windows Fax and Scan to see if they can detect the printer and perform a scan.
Reset the Printer: You can perform a reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it for about a minute, then plugging it back in and turning it on.
Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve communication issues. Look for updates on the HP support site.
Try Another Computer: If possible, try connecting the printer to another computer to see if scanning works there.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
