Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Lenovo E550
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Attempted a scan to email. Thunderbird is my email client and set as default client. Scan occurs successfully but error message says 'couldn't find the email client'. I don't see anywhere to set Thunderbird as the email client within the HP software and it is already set in Windows as the default email client. This setup worked just fine with previous printer. I would expect that the printer program should open the email client and place the scanned document in the email as an attachment to an email message ready to send.

Complete error message:

The HP scan application cannot find an email application installed on the computer. Please insure your email application is installed and properly configured. Internet email client accounts are not not supported.

Thank you. I'm quite surprised that HP does not support what other manufacturers  such as Epson, Cannon, have supported for many years. But apparently that is the case.

The software for my printer is called HP DJ 2600 series PCL-3 (network): HP Printer Assistant. What I expect is that after the document is scanned, HP will open my default email client (currently Thunderbird), open a new message and attach the scanned document to message. Thunderbird, nt HP, will call the SMTP server and do the mailing. Am I asking for something that HP cannot do?

I THINK that the procedure for the suggested software has to do with public email software, such as GMAIL (in the video) and use HP's server to get the message out. That's not what I want. I don't THINK the suggested software will have any effect on Thunderbird mailing of a scanned document. And my HP software has no place to enter this SMTP server info. I can communicate from the laptop to the printer and from the printer back to the laptop.

@Sunnyslope48You may want to turn on web services to make use of the settings you need, here's what you need to do:

Turning on Web Services allows your printer to communicate securely over the Internet with web-connected printing services, including HP ePrint cloud printing and HP Instant Ink delivery services.

NOTE:

If you are turning on Web Services to set up your printer on HP Connected, go to Setting Up an HP Connected Account.

Read the section that matches your printer control panel type for steps to turn on Web Services.

@Sunnyslope48 If you have issues with other applications as well, we could work on getting the printer fixed, however, this is a setup related issue with regards to the thunderbird alone.
So, Yes, I'm afraid that's a task for the thunderbird team, you may want to contact them for assistance on setting it up according to your preference,
