On a HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw.   I am receiving this error when we try to scan to e-mail:

The printer is unable to validate the server’s security certificate because the certificate is either self-signed or has been issued by an unknown authority. To enable the printer to validate the certificate, import trusted CA (Certificate Authority) certificates into the printer.

 

I have already tried to un-check the "Validate server certificate The printer can only confirm that the connection is secure if this option is selected." when setting up the e-mail settings. 


Note that this error occurred suddenly.  The scan to email has been working for years.  

 

Any suggestions?

There have been a lot of changes in security over the past couple of years which often results in things that used to work stop working. If you trust that you have the correct server set you could bypass the certificate check but of course these is some risk with that.
