We have a fleet of HP MFPs with a few different models. We use the Scan to Email functionality and authenticate to Hosted Exchange (M365). We have a business need for using TIF/TIFF files so all of the copiers are setup to scan to TIF/TIFF.
We recently switched our email protection platform and the new product is able to do a lot more with attachment scanning.
We are dealing with an issue where these two models HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdn and M428fdw are declaring the content type of the TIF attachment as text/plain. This incorrect setting is causing TIF attachments to be corrupted when they are processed by outbound attachment protection.
We have other HP MFPs such as the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301 that has an entirely different firmware and those models set the content type to image/png which doesn't cause a problem. There are also settings related to content type that can be tweaked in this model's firmware.
Creating an email in Outlook with a TIF file attached results in the content type being set to image/tiff which also doesn't cause a problem. That is also what our Toshiba MFPs set the content type to.
We don't have any issues with PDF attachments being set with the wrong content type or being corrupted. This content type issue only happens with TIF files on the M479s and M428s.
These are the firmware versions of the models mentioned:
MFP M428fdw - TETONXXXXN002.2428A.00
MFP M479fdn - CLRWTRXXXN002.2428A.00
HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301 - 6.17.3.269-202405221647
Is this the right place to post about this problem? We are currently trying to workaround the problem, but ideally we want these emails to be built correctly.

Curious, are these tif files multipage or single page? Do you get the same result with single page and multipage tif files
