HP Photosmart 7520 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi,

I’ve got a HP Photosmart 7520 printer that up until a couple of days ago has worked perfectly. However I’ve been having issues with the Scan to email option (something I’ve been using regularly for sometime).

I’ve been unable to send anything from the printer to my email address- a hotmail address used in Outlook on the laptop but also viewable on iPad iOS mail.

It will however send without issue to my gmail accounts.

I’ve performed the following to attempt to fix this:

1- Tried removing profile but did not recognise the pin.

2- Because of the above performed a factory reset in settings and re-entered profile but never received replacement code email through windows laptop or Apple devices.

3- Tried Gmail account and received pin and allowed to scan email to work for Gmail.

4- Tried sending to Gmail and Hotmail at same time, came through on Gmail but Hotmail did not (used Gmail profile).

5- Tried rebooting printer, Laptop and Apple devices but email still not received.

6- Uninstalled and reinstalled on Laptop

7- Downloaded programme to check for issues and it came back as fine.

8- After everything tried to email to printer and printer received from laptop and printed out. The confirmation email came through to tell me that it had done so.

So so it is purely a one way traffic. Best analogy I could think of is the Hotmail account and Scan to Print option is like a couple having an argument- One said to the other ‘I’ll listen to you but I’m not talking to you’

Please can anyone help? I’m at the end of my sanity! 🤯

@CircleK,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Let's try these steps here:

I would suggest here is to update the HP printer firmware. If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.  Or you can directly update the printer firmware from the printer control panel.

For more details on how to update the printer firmware, please follow this link: HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware Once done restart the printer.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to assign a Manual IP and google DNS. Here are the steps:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
  • Restart the printer and the router and check for issue resolution.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
