Hi all - I need help.  I am getting closer to solving this issue. MY scan to emails all stopped working about 2 weeks ago (I have at least 5 HP printers between work and home).  They are not connected.  I figured out FINALLY that my email password is not the password needed anymore on my Printer IP page but rather the email company - aol (I know I know) generates one for this type of usage now I guess.  I hear **bleep** does it too. Anyway -that issue SOLVED. All printer will now scan except this one.  I don't know what to do. When I printere the SMTP Comm Report it shows an error message "(#Auth05) Too many bad auth attempts - is there a way to clear this out?  The printer won't even try to scan even though the IP page is saying it is testing successfully.  It is clearly something that needs cleared on the printer - HELP!

Hello,

Hope you are well,  based on the information provided, if its a corporate SMPT, please validate with the provider of the email service, if the server has authentication certificates for devices that are attempting to connect to the email server.

If the email has two step verification, please try generating an app password and replace it into the embedded web server of the printer and test the outgoing email profile.

- Also in the outgoing email profile,  underneath the SMTP port number, there is a check mark for Always use secure connection (SSL/TLS). Try testing with that checked and unchecked.

Make sure SMTP , username (email address) and password are correct.

The only way to clear up the printer is by making a factory reset, please note a factory reset will take every configuration back to default.

Regards,

I am an HP employee
