HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw

Hi,

I have had this printer for a number of years and have never been able to get the scan to network folder to work.

I am running a Mac mini with Mac OS Ventura with a Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw. The printer is connected through LAN to a simple home network.

Here is my config:

Path: \\Alexanders-Mac-mini.home\Macintosh HD\Users\alexander\Public\Scans

Username: as per my login

Password: as per my login

The Scans folder is a shared folder and everyone can read/write access.

This is very frustrating and it seems a number of others have the same issue.

Thanks

Hi @ahjrennie,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing issues with scanning to network folder.

Please follow the steps listed below to uninstall and reinstall HP Smart App:

Step 1: Uninstall HP Smart App.

1. Navigate to and open Settings

2. Select Apps or Application Manager from the device Settings

3. Select HP Smart

4. Select Uninstall

Step 2: Reinstall HP Smart App.

1. Download the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPad OS),

or HP Smart - Microsoft Store (Windows),

or HP Smart - Mac App Store (Mac).

2. Open the HP Smart app.

3. The app searches for recently installed printers.

- If your printer displays, click it. If you are setting up a new printer, it might display with Set-Up under the name.

- If your printer does not display, click the Plus sign, and then follow the on-screen prompts to add your printer or set up a new printer.

Hi,

This is not helpful at all. The scan to network folder is a setting you can access on the web interface of the printer not through the HP smart software.

I can use HP smart to scan but it does not allow me to use the Scan to Network Folder available on the printer.

I have followed you produced but of course it has yielded no result at all.

Please can this be escalated.

Regards,

Alex
