I have had this printer for about two years and it worked fine on my old pc. I recently built a new pc and setup the printer with this system. The printer recognizes the network, setting that up was no problem through the software wizard. When I created a new network folder, the printer shows the destination, ask for pin number and commences the scan, but then fails with the message cannot connect to \\DESKTOP\Scans. I have checked and the folder is valid and shared. I am able to scan using the HP Scan tool from the HP folder, so I can communicate from the pc to the printer, just can not start a scan from the printer to the pc. I am running win10 , any assistance would be appreciated.

@__JP,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Community,

From the Control Panel go to Network and Sharing Center, can you see the network marked as Home or Woirk network or maybe a public network?

Open the HP Printer Software.

Double-click Scanner Actions, and then double-click Scan to Network Folder Wizard.

Follow the onscreen instructions.   Click here and follow the steps mentioned in page 54 & 55.

Alternatively, check this YouTube video for clear instructions on setting up your printer for scan to network folder: Set up Scan to Network Folder using HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) | HP Printers | HP

You may also check for this:

From the Control Panel please click on Uninstall a Program.

Click on Install/Remove Windows Features from the left pane.

Locate SMB1.0/CIFS and ensure it is marked with a V mark with all 3 options below checked.

Confirm any change and restart your PC as prompt.

Now perform a test and check for any difference.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
