We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

The "Scan to Network Folder" feature stopped working after changing my cable modem router, which changed my printer's IP address, but the similar "Scan to Computer" feature and all other computer connectivity is still working fine. Is ther a way to restore/reset this Scan to Network Folder functionality without switching from DHCP to Manual IP Address, since this is not desired long-term? Thank you

Hi! @Golfer_GP, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Community!

I understand scan to network folder feature has stopped functioning on the printer.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

Please share the complete printer model name to assist you better.

Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.

Try to disable the antivirus and firewall temporarily on the PC and check again.

Follow the steps below to check the WIA Service:

1. In desktop mode, press the Windows key and R at the same time, to show the run command line,  type services.msc and press the enter key.

2. Scroll down to the WIA Windows Image Acquisition.

3. Make sure that this service is running. Click Stop and then Restart.

4. Restart the computer.

Also, try the steps recommended below.

Use the product control panel to scan a document and save it to a folder on the network.
NOTE: In order to use this feature, the product must be connected to a network and the Scan to Network
Folder feature must be conƭgured by using the Scan to Network Folder Setup Wizard (Windows) or the
HP Embedded Web Server.
1. Load the document on the scanner glass according to the indicators on the product.
2. From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Scan button.
3. Touch the Scan to Network Folder item.
4. In the list of network folders, select the folder to which you want to save the document.
5. The control panel screen displays the scan settings.
● If you want to change any of the settings, touch the Settings button, and then change the settings.
● If the settings are correct, go to the next step.
6. Touch the Scan button to start the scan job.

Hope this answers your query!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂

Hello. Thank you for the multiple ideas, but unfortunately it still does not work after trying all of them. The odd thing is that the Scan to Computer feature works with no issues at all, so I know my printer has connectivity to my PC. Copy, Scan to Email and all other feature work fine as well. Your recommendation to use the web control panel to scan to my computer worked also. My printer model is HP OfficeJet Pro 8730, and I have made no changes to it. The only change was to the network router, which I think changed the IP address on my printer from ...1.3 to ...1.6, likely due to DHCP. Thank you!

I recommend you enable SMB on your computer. Follow the below steps to Enable SMB.

Programs and features > turn on windows feature > SMB 1.0 CIFS Server > reboot PC.

Setup the scan to network folder again on the printer.

Hope this helps!

Take Care! 🙂

My printer model is an HP OfficeJet Pro 8730. SMB is not listed as an option under "Programs and features > turn on windows feature >". Thank you

@Golfer_GP, thanks of your quick response and time.

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.

Try performing a semi-full reset on the printer and check if it helps.

As the steps to perform a semi-full reset is confidential and dedicated to your printer. I will share the steps through a private message.

Please watch your inbox for more information.

Hope this helps!

Take Care! 🙂
